VALERIE Vigoda is known through the music world as the blazing six-string electric violin player in the theatrical pop trio GrooveLily, but the Princeton University alum is now known for the part in writing musicals. "Going straight into musical theater was a little bit of the particular left turn for me, but I am glad it's a turn I acknowledged, " she says. "I've been the particular musician ever since I was little i grew up singing and playing violin, but also sitting next to my dad, who had been a jazz pianist, and performing all the Gilbert & Sullivan operettas, and playing through all the international jazz standards, so I have always been very up to date with musical theater. "   Her parents on a regular took her to Broadway television shows and introduced her to some of these great Broadway soundtracks. Still, Master of science. Vigoda's own participation in this specific theater came a little later in life. "It came about because I had been working for a singer-songwriter and playing the electrical power violin, and met up with Brendan Milburn, who took a detour away from writing music for the theatre to join my band, " states. "He and I and our drummer Gene Lewin (another Princeton alum), wrote songs together and a necessary part songs together for record program} executives and what we would hear again and again is that our music was informative but it was too Broadway. "   Eventually the three realized they should begin on writing for the stage. Their first accord musical was called Striking 14, and it was met with much crucial success.

"We were offered the chance to write a show and have it in at the Prince Music Theater to be able to 2002, so we jumped at them, " Ms. Vigoda says. "Although we loved playing music live, and the driving and setting up gear and as a result driving to the next one was painful. The opportunity to be in one place due to weeks and be still for a tracfone unit was like a miracle for us. "   Other this specific theater projects followed, including Going to bed Beauty Wakes, Toy Story iPhone 5s case and the Musical, Long Story Short and as a result Wheelhouse. "All of a sudden we are getting a reputation as musical theatre writers and performers and getting to be offered commissions from other theaters, " Ms. Vigoda says. "It only grew and grew and we determined ourselves really loving the effort of working on larger stories exactly who involve our songwriting but also have proven to be connected to character and outside of our your lives. "   Ms. Vigoda's latest over the internet was writing the lyrics to the this specific Ernest Shackleton Loves Me, which may be closing out the season at George Street Playhouse in New Brunswick through May 7. The good book was written by noted playwright Dude DiPietro with Mr. Milburn on writing the music. The musical tells the story plot of how a sleep-deprived single husband and video game music composer has always been contacted across time by the common explorer Ernest Shackleton. Ms. Vigoda also plays the lead in the present. It was a chance encounter with Mister. DiPietro, a Tony winner, exactly who led to the collaboration. "We spoke to Joe one of the things we wanted to do ended up create something that I could perform as a consequence of I really love the exhilaration of being onstage, " she says. "We had only seen this amazing museum exhibition relating to Ernest Shackleton and I didn't learn about who he was and seeing these kind of images and hearing his saga was so inspiring to me and as a result Brendan. Joe didn't know of which he was either, and we mentioned one of the many details from the exhibit, which was he was insisted the sailors bring along théorbe and music. As soon as Joe ever heard that detail, he was in. "   A week later, Mr. DiPietro listed them a nine-page outline for any of the musical and asked them to move forward. "Being able to delve into the story involving Ernest Shackleton and his Antarctic annotation and the ordeal he went through and as a result finding out about that period history can be quite exciting for me, " she says. "I feel delighted and lucky in the form of part of it. " Ernest Shackleton Loves Me is at George Shopping mall Playhouse, 9 Livingston Ave., Interesting Brunswick through May 17.
